Organics

CRNS members have been tackling food and green waste in different ways for years

The area of organics in resource management is primarily about preventing food waste and garden waste from ending up in landfill. This means reducing it at source (watching what you buy so you're not throwing out-of-date food in the bin) and composting any excess you might have.

Many CRNS members run community composting projects - for example, the PUT Community Co-operative in Aberdeenshire and Colinton Community Composting in Edinburgh - that take in garden waste from the local community and turns it into compost that can be picked up and used by local gardeners and growers. This provides benefits to the community while reducing greenhouse gases.
