Taster Day - 18 March 2008
Local Authority and Community Sector representatives gathered in Stirling for the Taster Day of the Scottish Master Composter Programme and the launch of the Master Composter Funding Programme. This new programme, funded by the Scottish Government, is a joint venture between the CRNS, its member projects, WRAP and SWAG.
It proved to be a lively and informative event with lots of discussion and questions. Sarah Lagden from the CRNS introduced the Programme, its origins and its objectives. Chris Ward from Forth Environment Link provided a detailed explanation of how to run a Master Composter scheme including how to use the manuals (which are now available on the CRNS website). Tim Morton of WRAP described WRAP’s involvement and how the Master Composter Programme will complement its other work in Scotland. Maurice Golden talked about SWAG’s marketing campaign for the Home Composting Programme and which materials will be available to community organisations running a Master Composter Scheme. The day was rounded off by Sarah Lagden running through the application process for the Master Composter Funding Programme, the deadline for submitting applications is Friday 18 April 2008.
