Details

One of the main objectives of the recently published, Scottish Executive Business Waste Framework (March 2007) is to work with all relevant bodies to improve recycling services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the wider business community.  There is clearly an opportunity for the community recycling sector to widen its role in the delivery of collection services to business both in terms of coverage and in the materials collected. This seminar, therefore, will be of particular relevance to CRNS members already collecting from SMEs or those interested to know more about how to start up.

The seminar will include an overview of the WRAP supported SME trials including the key findings, the resources now available, the good practice models, the key principles of any service, for example, pricing structure/contracts, recruitment of SMEs, sales and marketing approaches and the sustainability of the service.

Successful community based collection schemes will share their experiences and highlight the opportunities for the sector in terms of materials to be collected and what can be achieved.
