Regional Forums - Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway

This Forum covers East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire, South Ayrshrie and Dumfries & Galloway local authority areas.

The  Forum consists of community recycling organisations from across the four local authority areas, SEPA waste strategy team and SWAG (Scottish Waste Aware Group).  Forum members meet every 3 months in various locations around the region.

Recent meetings have included the following:

• A representative from Healthy Working Lives gave an overview of the H&S implications for community recyclers and what help and support they can get.
• Linsay Chalmers, CRNS Furniture Projects Coordinator, came along to give an update on the WEEE directive and what opportunities there are for the community sector.
• Claire Elliot from Learn Direct Scotland gave a presentation on Individual Learning Accounts
• Yvonne Irvine, SEPA,  presented to the group on the definition of waste, duty of care, waste management licenses and exemptions
