Regional Forums - Argyll & Bute

The  Argyll & Bute forum consists of community recycling organisations from across Argyll & Bute, SEPA waste strategy team and SWAG (Scottish Waste Aware Group).  A key focus of the forum is how member organisations can work together to be more efficient and effective.

Meetings take place on a quarterly basis and topics recently discussed have included:

  • An update on plastic recycling and how the organisations can combine resources to gain better prices.
  • Linsay Chalmers, CRNS Furniture Projects Coordinator, came along to give an update on the WEEE directive and what opportunities there are for the community sector
  • Sarah Lagdon, CRNS Community Compost Officer, discussed the 5 Rockets (in-vessel composters) that are in Argyll & Bute and the best way to use them most effectively.
  • A Scotland-wide community recycling kerbside collection meeting was proposed
  • Information on Individual Learning Accounts and how they could benefit the groups.
  • Discussion and exchange of information  on Risk Assessments
  • An update and feedback on the Waste Prevention Action plan
