The Big Drop - official launchJanuary 19, 2010 CRNS chief executive, Pauline Hinchion, and Radio Forth breakfast show presenter, Arlene Stuart, officially launched the Big Drop yesterday along with Kevin O'Shaughnessy from the Edinburgh Furniture Initiative and Christine Johnson from the Bethany Christian Trust - two of the CRNS members participating in the campaign. The Big Drop – a new year radio-based campaign being run by Bauer Media, in conjunction with the CRNS and the Scottish Government's Go Greener campaign - is encouraging radio listeners to
reuse unwanted Christmas presents by donating them to community based
organisations that will put them to good use. The focus this year is on musical instruments and sporting
equipment.Local radio stations across Scotland -
Forth One, Clyde 1, West FM, Tay FM, Boders, Northsound 1 and Moray
Firth Radio
- are asking people to drop off their unwanted items at the radio stations
where they will be collected and put to good use by CRNS members. Members will also take other unwanted items of furniture, white goods and appliances. Blythswood Care will handle donations in the West and North of Scotland. Edinburgh Furniture Initiative and Bethany will be handling drop-offs in the Edinburgh area. Home Basics in the Borders will be ensuring good use of donations in the South. The New Hope Trust will be taking collections around Aberdeen and the North East, while TFCR (Tayside Foundation for the Conservation of Resources) will be collecting goods in the Dundee area.
