All systems go for the Master Composter Programme for ScotlandAugust 6, 2008
This means that there is be a Master Composter project present in eight out of Scotland’s eleven Waste Strategy Areas. Master Composter projects operate by training volunteers to spread the word on home composting in their local communities. Each project is employing a coordinator whose main responsibility it is to recruit and manage a regional network of local, enthusiastic volunteers. This programme is the result of a partnership between WRAP Scotland, SWAG, the CRNS and its members and is currently a one year trial. Carl Nichols, Head of Home Composting for WRAP, said: "We are delighted to have ten community-based Master Composter projects working alongside WRAP and local authorities to promote home composting in Scotland. "We recognise that these organisations have excellent links with their local communities and we look forward to the Programme being a success."
