
Forth Sector named Social Enterprise of the YearJune 25, 2008
Forth Sector was the only Scotland-based social enterprise to make it to the final three and the first ever social enterprise with a portfolio of social firms to win the award. Over 50 social enterprises from all over the UK were nominated for this year's awards. Sue Matthias, Acting Editor of the New Statesman, congratulated the winners and said that they "represent the incredible range of talent at work in this very dynamic sector". Mike Finlayson, the CEO of Forth Sector, said: "Forth Sector are delighted with this award and flattered to have received it from such an auspicious body. We have great pleasure in accepting it as a measure of the value of social enterprise to society in general and of Forth Sector's important work in helping people with mental health issue to flourish within our social firms." The UK-wide awards, which recognise excellence in all aspects of social enterprise, were hosted by Ed Balls MP and BBC Radio 4 presenter, Edward Stourton. |
