Recycling rates show a change in attitudeMay 9, 2008 ![]() Research from The Office for National Statistics indicate a change in attitude to the environment, The Guardian reports today. According to ONS there has been a "significant change in behavior". Paul Vickers from ONS said to the newspaper: "The figures show that we are all recycling more. "There are many reasons for this. One of them is local authorities and how aggressive they are in introducing policies to meet government targets on waste. But it also reflects a change in people's attitudes." There has been an overall increase in recycling rates across the UK between 2002 and 2006. In 2005-06 Britain recycled or composted 27% of all waste, while 9% was incinerated, and the rest, 64%, went to landfill. In Scotland 25% is being recycled or composted, 2% incinerated and 73% is going to landfill.
