Plastics recycling at Action Recycle

Plastic pipesAction Recycle, based in Denny near Falkirk, now collect and process various types of plastics in their two plastics granulators.

The machines are able to process rigid plastics into a form which is more practical to transport and also ready to enter the next phase of the recycling process.

The plastics recycling project diverts valuable resources of used plastics from landfill and aims to help Action Recycle become independent of grant funding.

The main types of plastics Action Recycle are keen to source and recycle are High, Medium and Low Density Polyethylene and Polypropylene.

These plastics appear in many forms such as pipes, barrels, buckets and many more.

Plastic pipes There are some plastics which Action Reecycle cannot currently process and would therefore class as ‘contaminants’ and the main culprits are PVC and nylon.

Some of the more unusual plastics which can be recycled through Action Recycle’s scheme are CDs and their covers.

While the CDs are kept whole for recycling, their covers, made from High Density Polystyrene, can be granulated to add value.

If you are interested in recycling a plastic type not mentioned here or want further information and advice on recycling services, contact 01324 826 826 or action-recycle@btcv.org.uk
