UK ranks together with Spain and Germany among the 5 most attractive locations for renewable energy investments. Globally only US and India rank higher.
The report "Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices" is produced by the consultancy firm Ernst & Young.
Apart from an overall "Renewables Index", Ernst & Young also analyse markets for wind energy, solar power and biomass.
In the "Long-term wind index" UK ranks third together with Spain. The report says: "The UK has become the seventh country in the world to install 2GW of wind power, installing an average of 100MW per month over the last 20 months.
"Scotland anticipates that it will shortly meet its 2010 renewable energy target of 18% three years early."
