Knowledge & Skills Fund
What is the Knowledge & Skills Exchange Fund?
This fund of £120,000 over two years has come from the Scottish Government to be used to facilitate learning and the exchange of knowledge and ideas between CRNS members and within the wider community sector. The Fund wishes to be as flexible as possible but must not be used to finance activity which is already funded by Scottish Government or other public monies. The fund is now open for applications.
How much is available?
The Knowledge & Skills Exchange Fund provides awards of up to £1000. If you live in a remote community where travel costs may be higher please contact Joyce Walsh, CRNS, Development Officer to discuss further.
What can it be used for?
- Study visits to other projects/initiatives across Scotland. Study visits to projects out with Scotland but still within the UK may be considered but only if a similar project does not exist in Scotland or the project relates to a new or innovative concept.
- Hosting a study visit to share their experience and best practice. The cost of travel and subsistence for participants attending or hosting a study visit is covered under the grant see below for guidance.
Notes
If applying for a visit the following guidance costs apply -
Mileage will be paid at 40p per mile
Accommodation costs up to £60 per person per night B& B.
Subsistence up to £20 per person per day (no alcohol).
(We would encourage you to make the cost of the activity (transport etc) as economical and sustainable as possible).
If hosting a visit the following guidance costs apply -
Venue costs up to £20 per hour.
Staff/volunteer/administration time up to £10 per hour.
Catering costs up to £10 per person attending the visit/activity.
If hosting a visit host costs up to £400 per day
What can it not be used for?
Awards may not be used as a contribution to salary costs, the purchase of capital equipment or software, or publications. Attending events, meeting or conferences.
Training either individuals or members of staff. Study visits out with the UK.
Who can apply?
Applications will be considered from all full and fledgling CRNS members.
How does it work?
- If you would like to apply to this fund and think your activity fits the criteria above you can down load the application form below alternatively if you wish to discuss your planned activity to assess its eligibility please contact Joyce Walsh, CRNS Development Officer.
- Once the completed application has been received a confirmation/refusal letter will be sent with a Declaration Form which should be signed and returned to DTA Scotland to enable funds to be released. No visit must take place before receipt of the confirmation/refusal letter has issued.
What do we need in return?
- The activity must take place within 3 months of the award
- Within 1 months of the activity, we require a short narrative report and a breakdown of how the money was spent, backed up with receipts or copies.
- If there is any underspend it will be required to be returned to the accountable body (DTA Scotland) after the activity.
The overall responsibility for the fund in terms of reporting to Scottish Government and accountability for monies spent lies with DTAS - acting as the accountable body for LPL. The CRNS are one of the participating networks responsible for promoting and administrating this fund.
