INCREASE Investment

INCREASE III Investment Programme Seminar

Venue: Attic Room, Tolbooth, Jail Wynd, Stirling, FK8 1DE
Date: Thursday 20th May, 2010
Time: 1pm-3.30pm (lunch 1pm-1.30pm)

This half day seminar delivered by Zero Waste Scotland in partnership with Social Investment Scotland will give delegates an overview of the newly launched INCREASE Investment Programme and the tools and approaches required to complete a successful application. The seminar is free and includes lunch.

The fund provides a mix of both grant and loan funding to not-for-profit community sector organisations to improve the waste prevention, recovery, recycling and / or re-use capability and infrastructure across Scotland in particular -

  • To develop and implement waste prevention strategies. For example demonstrable and measureable behavioural change and education and awareness raising of waste prevention activities such as “mend and lend”, hiring, food planning and other efficiency measures
  • To increase the recovery of household and commercial and industrial items for reprocessing, recycling and / or re-use.

To fill gaps in collection, recycling and re-use service provision (as identified by Zero Waste Scotland both geographically and by material type) applicants will be able to apply for a grant of up to 50 per cent (there may be some flexibility in this apportionment at the discretion of Zero Waste Scotland and Social Investment Scotland) of capital and revenue costs (up to a ceiling of £100,000) which directly relate to this project. Funding will NOT be made available for costs associated with any existing activities or associated baseline tonnages.

The grant must be combined with a loan from Social Investment Scotland.  This means that the maximum total project costs that could be funded is £200,000.

Applications will be assessed for the combined grant funding and loan by a Panel which will include representatives from Zero Waste Scotland and Social Investment Scotland.

Subjects for discussion at the seminar include

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Step by step guide to completing applications
  • Borrowing for the first time
