Happy New Year

We hope everyone had a peaceful break despite the storms and it’s back to work now with thoughts turning to the year ahead: 2012 will see Scottish Local Council Elections, the London Olympics, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, US Presidential Elections, continued global economic uncertainties, more unpredictable weather events, and apparently the end of the world on December 21st 2012 if you believe some doomsayers!

The CRNS is certainly expecting a busy year ahead and will continue to work with its membership and the wider 3rd Sector to lobby for a strong and vibrant reuse and resource sector here in Scotland. We look forward to working with you.

Credit Union News

New Law for Credit Unions

Changes to the Credit Unions Act have come into force that will allow Credit unions to change their rules to allow them to provide services to new groups and develop new services and partnerships. Credit unions are now free to extend their reach and work with organisations such as housing providers, employers and charities to bring financial services to new groups of people.

Credit unions will also be able to choose to provide services to community groups, social enterprises and businesses, helping organisations that need financial services and attracting investment into communities.
