The CRNS More than Recycling Annual Conference brings together individuals, businesses and organisations interested in all aspects of environmental and social engagement at the community level. Each year the conference seeks to bring the best in international and local speakers to Scotland to encourage, inspire and inform delegates on how to harness waste resources to build stronger communities and maximise the positive environmental, social and economic impacts of community resource management.
The annual CRNS More Than Furniture Conference is run in conjunction with the Homelessness Team at the Scottish Government. It provides a forum for furniture reuse projects and those working with homeless and homelessness issues to celebrate and share good practice, facilitate networking, boost morale, plan for the future and contribute to national strategy.
The Social Impact Award focuses on the social impact of furniture projects with a particular focus on housing and homelessness. It aims to recognise projects that have a significant social impact, that are taking an innovative approach to making that impact or that have gone the extra mile to support service users.
Scotland’s first official day celebrating all things reuse took place on 5th June, 2010. Second-hand, retro, vintage, classic, nearly new, previously owned, reclaimed, and reused — there are many words to describe reuse. Pass it on Day is about taking action and passing on unwanted items for the benefit of others. It's also about buying less new stuff and saving the world's resources.
The day is a collaborative event between the CRNS and Zero Waste Scotland. Read more on the Pass it on Day website. And choose to reuse.
